Mark and Donna Turner founded Horizon Gate in 1980 after thirteen years touring North America, Europe, Australia and New Zealand as performing artists and producing films in Brussels, Belgium. They have worked full time practicing and leading the arts for 45 years.
Since Horizon Gate’s inception the Turners have produced dramatic, documentary and training films, stage plays, audio theater, visual arts, and literature in many cultures spanning five continents. As arts leaders and teachers they have guided corporations, mission organizations and many church denominations into innovations of communications and outreach. Countless artists have benefited from their counsel and example, some of whom have gone on to form their own organizations.
The Turners recently concluded two years co-directing the Cathedral Center for the Performing and Visual Arts at St. Paul’s Episcopal Cathedral, San Diego where many of their works were seen in periodic shows.
Horizon Gate Productions is a non-profit organization incorporated in the state of California. We received our 501(c)(3) tax exemption in 1981. All donations are tax-deductible.
We are governed by a board of directors under the leadership of Mark Turner, President and Artistic Director, and Donna Turner, Vice-President and Producer. The organization is structured to receive members.
Our vision is to build the community of believing artists through working together on art & films.
We demonstrate this by collaboration, nurturing creative relationships, mentoring new artists, helping each other grow spiritually and producing profound works of art together.
Our vision is to build the community of believers in the world. We exhibit the films and art used to make them in a combination fine art gallery and cafe. There the art and films stimulate significant conversations which draw people to God. It is a mobile exhibit of a beginning collection with the dream of a permanent home for many artist/filmmakers’ creations.
